The worst part for me about all that snow is we have to shovel it like gnomes in a coal mine, all that work and then a week of 2 from now it all melts. When it gets like this leaving it to melt on its own is not an option so shovel we must.

And I'm off to do some more, at least the sun it out and the wind isn't blowing!

This is the box i made up that is hard wired into the LH rear compartment next to the trailer wiring harness , relays to stop the leds flickering from the trailer detection pulsing and resistors for the indicators.
Resistors are glued to the alloy case with thermal glue to help dissipate the heat that they generate.
I put the earths onto a switch so i can turn it on and off depending on what i'm towing.

Had my alternator fail while on top of a mountain. Was running on 7.4 volts at one point! Check out the video to see something strange - at one point there were no interior or exterior lights or gauges at all, only a RED parking brake fault (parking brake worked fine though after replacing alternator) and the only other lights were the hard-wired steering wheel volume and cruise control backlights (I retrofit a 2011 RRS wheel into my 2006 and tapped right into 12v power in center console). Juggled batteries with a friend for a few days to get home. The whole ordeal made an already adventurous trip even more exciting!

low voltage, still going strong!

None sorry, its tucked into the rear compartment between the blower fan and an air compressor so its pretty well hidden.

Finally replaced my third brake light. Bought the thing over a year ago.... Genuine LR part that I had to drill into for my GMRS antenna mount. Few things to know if you do this. You do not need to remove every last bit of the old sealant, the new stuff will bond to it really well. You need to make sure you really get the proper assembly, the LR4 one is apparently slightly different and will not fit right. At least the UK forums say as much. And you want to dry fit! There is a center locator that likes to ride up on top of its locating notch. So when installing you need to press firmly down and you slide it back and locate it. Once in place you should not be able to pull up on the edge near the sunroof panel. If you can pull up it is not correct and you will have a bigger gap along that edge. At the back by the LEDs there are two "pins" that simply make contact with the sheet metal, pretty much just stops. Make sure you clean any old sealant from those spots so you know they will land on sheetmetal and not a couple millimeters of old sealant. I used 3M windshield sealant at $20/tube. Removal of the old was a pain. I will be finding bits of this thing for years in my garage.

Past two days since I got it:
  • washed
  • checked fluids and air filter
  • replaced hood struts
  • state inspection/registered/titled
  • replaced all of the wheel lug nuts
  • Ordered 3 missing engine cover fasteners from dealership
  • failed 10 attempts to program homelink
  • velco garage door remote to hidden spot on center console
  • greased sunroof track and silicone the rubber seal
  • purchased missing jack handle
  • purchased Yakama rack and kayak saddles/rollers
  • removed dealership sticker from rear
  • removed the factory front license plate bracket.
  • Checked the fuse on the console fridge was good . Must be something more significant.

Tomorrow:

  • Install battery charger pigtail under hood
  • begin hardwire install of a Bluetooth for aux port inside center console.
  • Figure out good storage place from safety
  • troubleshoot the park sensors

I didn’t get to the parking sensors troubleshoot, but;
  • hardwired the Bluetooth inside the center console. Tomorrow, I’ll tidy it up and reinstall the power plug/Aux input panel.
  • changed air filter
  • changer pcv valve
  • replace spark plugs in right side. Will finish in the morning.
  • installer battery charger pigtail
  • Filled front bumper license plate holes with epoxy. Touchup paint in the morning.

Hello from Alaska! Got mine on the 9th last month. 2008 Java Black LR3 HSE with 114k miles. Not exactly just a "what I did to mine today" kinda post, but what I've done in the past month, and what's to come this month.

I began with some light paint correction - scratch x, polish, and wax. The paint was pretty dull looking when I first got it.
Next, I ordered the OEM trailer hitch and trailer wiring kit, OEM ipod kit (so I can use either my ipod or one of those bluetooth adapters), and changed out all the outside halogen bulbs (parking/turn bulbs) for LED. Changed out the side markers that were cracked for clear LED ones.

I've got some other OEM accessories I ordered that it was missing - roof rack, rubber floor mats, etc.

Today though, I'm changing out the front lower control arms. The left side has been clunking slightly since I got it.

If you have a newer garage door opener, I discovered the LR3 mirror wouldn't work with my opener from 2020. It's a security 2.0 and no matter what I did the mirror wouldn't learn the code from the remote. You need to get the "compatability bridge" which is about $30.00 I think it was. After I got it, I can use the mirror buttons with my garage door opener.
