Tonight I quickly installed a NMO Midland antenna base and "ghost" antenna (Midland 3db gain). The base allows me to swap to a 32" wire antenna or any other NMO mount type. But with the places I go locally this will work best to avoid trees and such. About a year ago I had the idea of using the third brake light as a roof wiring access point for lights. Mount some RV style cable glands, etc. So when I needed an antenna location I figured it would work just as well. Originally I was going to use a cable gland then mount the antenna to my rack. But then I figured right not directly to the third light itself! Advantage is no drilling of the body panels and the fact that my third light is old and beat up anyway. Also *maybe* having it mounted to plastic will reduce ground interference? (no clue, not a radio guy). Either way, not a very destructive mod and looks kinda nifty.
Replaced the rear driveshaft on the LR3 today. No rust issues so was super easy. Old vs new.
Edit: Eliminated a occasional vibration I had around 80 mph, up shift’s and down shifts are much smoother without a clunk. The center bearing wasn’t bad on mine, but the rear u-joint had some wear and “felt” less than smooth after removal.
Does it ever stop? My LR3 has been sitting in the garage waiting to go back to the mechanic on Monday Aug 2, 2021!!! I don’t hear the air compressor to raise my rover. It’s been down all the way will not raise. Has brand new air bags, air compressor and just spent all kinds of money and now it will not raise???? Default shows suspension fault only normal height….DUH!!! Also shows a pic with the car and arrows on top of each side??? HELP
From day one of buying my LR3 new, I have always thought the 6 spoke HSE wheel was about as boring as it gets. Bought some used wheels and tires from a buddy with an LR4. I like the look of the wheels, but will like them more when I put different tires on it.
