Previous 4 vehicles prior to LR3 we owned when we were living in the Middle East. When we decided to move back stateside, had to let go of the babies.

Between hauling kids to bball games, AV gear to shows and dogs to beaches, had to have a multi purpose rig that can carry all.

My wife was driving an 08 Hummer H3 Alpha with the 5.3L LS3 V8 vs the standard 3.7L Inline 5 cylinder. It was extremely reliable, setup for off roading with an ARB, Warn Winch, HD Steel Rear Bumper, and a Baja Rack Roof Rack. It wasn't the roomiest thing in the back seat, and the MPG wasn't great (slightly worse than a D1/D2), but it was bulletproof reliable, and it stood out as 95% of the ones you see are mall crawlers.

When my wife told me she was expecting our second little one I immediately started looking for a 3rd Row SUV and the LR3 fit the bill nicely. Ended up selling the H3 Alpha with 140K on it for 16,100.00 and I found our 06 LR3 HSE with HD Package with under 100K on it for 10,900.00. I had to replace an alternator 2 weeks after buying it, a brake switch, and I did a complete brake job. I also had the middle resonator removed to give it a much better V8 sound.

It gets much better MPG, it rides better, and it has a lot more options vs the H3 Alpha like Nav, and a rear locker. They both have 300HP, but the 6spd Auto in the LR3 actually makes it feel like 300HP vs the Alpha that only had a 4spd transmission and it never really seemed to have access to all 300HP.

'03 D2 SE7. Would still be driving D2 were it not for head gasket issues.

A couple of Discoverys -- a 1995 Discovery SE 5-speed and a 2003 Discovery 2, alas with the dreaded tick. But in all other ways a great Rover.

This was a fun exercise,
Wife and I counted 29 cars we have owned since I could drive.
Including 2 Cars each for our 3 kids.
Including a used Caddy Sedan de Ville Limousine from a limo company (not a super stretch) I bought as a third car when kids began coming along. I just couldn't see myself in a minivan. Wife and I had small cars and no trunks space for strollers diaper bags tricycles. Caddy trunk swallowed them all. Ran the tires off that thing on weekends visiting in-laws and family who all seemed to live 2-4 hours away, I puffed butts in the front with the privacy window up. Wife sipped cocktails and watched recorded soap operas on the VCR. ( or Barney Tapes) if the kids were awake. Best auto investment for the money I ever made.

only 2 4x4's... Power Ram pickup and full size Chevy Blazer.
But LOVE my 12 yr old LR3 SE with 170 K. Fits me like an old sneaker
