A few Peugeots (back in Australia).

My father had an old 1977 Land Cruiser 'Troopie', which was my first 4wd experiences years ago. It was slow, loud, loved gasoline but would just plod along and was FAR more comfortable on unsealed tracks etc., than on the highway.

Also in Australia, I had a WH Grand Cherokee (2005). It was a CRD with the Mercedes diesel. I have to say the engine was brilliant as was the rest of the car. If I wanted to move the diesel would really go. It was also excellent on the beaches.

Now in the US we have the LR3.

Had an 04 D2 before the LR3. Loved the hell out of that truck. Died at 162k when the transfer case seized and snapped the drive shaft...which in turn flopped around and did some ripping.

Default Whats that smell?

2006 LR3, SE 4.0 192K
Short run to the local gym. Exit the car and smell something strange. Pop the hood, nothing, look underneath, nothing, check the wheel wells, nothing,,,, until the right rear and feel heat.
Burnt fingers shortly thereafter from touching rotor. Long story short, seized caliper. But LR3 brake /caliper maintenance are a snap on these things. Tried to free up first by soaking piston in lubricant but no go. New caliper $ 99 at auto zone. $35 credit after returned core. Biggest hassle was bleeding brakes by yourself. (Tighten reservoir cap, open bleed valve, depress brake completely and hold with custom made brake depression stick, tighten bleed valve, loosen reservoir cap, slowly release brake. Then repeat about 6-8 times.
