Default What to expect when buying an 05' LR3

New to the forum here, I'm about to buy and 05' LR3 SE V8 with 110,000 miles on it. The car is overall in good condition with no mechanical problems. What can I expect out of the car maintenance wise, and how much do you think the car costs to maintain annually on average? And do you recommend checking anything specific with the car before I buy it, and after I buy it what should I do service wise to prevent any problems? I know it is a lot of questions, but any information will help. thanks

How do you know that it has no mechanical problems? Check the EAS thoroughly (raise and lower and see if it struggles), drive along at idle (5 mph) and "snap" the brake pedal. If it makes a "thunk" sound, the bushings are worn. Make sure the EPB works. Drive it and listen for a whining sound indicating dying differentials. Also make sure the shifts are smooth.

I spend about $1000/year on maintenance but it's mostly on stuff I WANT to change or address.

In addition to what Houm-wa said, pay for a pre-inspection at a dealership. These are unique vehicles with unique issues so a couple hundred spent up front is a good investment.

After purchase, if you can't find out about the service history, all fluids will need to be drained and filled.

My opinion: Stay away from the Stealership and find a reliable local mechanic that knows these vehicles...buy your own parts (plenty of resources like : AtlanticBritish.com they have various videos and Maintenance service Schedules)
If you stay on/ahead of schedule with the recommended maintenance service... both your wallet and your car will be happy

After you buy it like EastCoast said : All fluids need change... possibly belts n pulley n rad. hoses if not done already. Good luck
