What Software or Firmware Updates Available LR3
I complain my rear locker is slow to lock. It can be set to Rock Crawl and the center locks before you move but the has to get stuck, reversed several times, then rear lock engages. After the first time, it usually engages instantly in Rock Crawl from Sand or other. I know it could be 100 different things, but I keep feeling it is in that locking motor. Maybe it needs to be re-sync? There is a bit of a leak at the top (or bottom of lock motor) where the 4 bolts connect it to the driver side of the diff. So it may be worth replacing since it has to be removed, cleaned, and resealed.
But treat it like it was new and sync it? Possible?

It's better... say 50% better. Was taking 8 times getting stuck to engage, now only 4.... But it's odd that once it does, if you stay stopped in neutral, you can change the terrain mode to any selection, then back to Rock Crawl and both locker lock instantly. Still, 98% of the time it will not lock in reverse.
I got it a bad situation due to the non locked rear..... Ended up bottomed out, opposite sides front and rear wheel in the air. Rear was down hill into mud then lake.... Placed rock under airborne rear tire, levered under front tire with 12ft 4x4 wood (Archimedes's), put it in reverse and.... nothing. Would not lock. After trying three hours, Slow put in reverse and all locked and backed down the hill in bad mud, in drive all stayed locked and that LR3 was amazing. Through mud, 30 degree angle from side to side, then climb to safety.... Nearly brings a tear to my eye until I remember why this happened. REAR DID NOT LOCK

As I have said before.... and I really, really hate repeating myself, that is not how the rear locker works. But anything replaced on the rear diff from the diff itself, actuator or the control module requires recalibration after the repair. If nothing was changed for another different part, then its not really needed but I dont think calibration would hurt.
Ask GAP to be certain, but according to others: "My IIDtool has an option to initiate calibration for the rear e-diff...". My understanding is the GAP IID Tool needs recent software (less than a couple years or so). Thus older models or ones not updated may lack the feature. If getting a new one, I would expect it to have it. But contact them to be sure.
