worried about reliability?
HI,
I’m new to this forum. I need a new suv with three rows for my wife. We recently drove the LR3 and love it. It is a great vehicle. It has everything on our wish list. But (you knew this was coming) I’m very worried about reliability. Land Rover ranked 2nd to last in the 05 J.D. Power dependability survey (barley above Kia). I think since FORD took over some of the problems should improve, but I don’t want my new LR3 to be in the shop constantly. Can anyone reassure me on this point? thanks

properly maintain and you will be fine. It will have a warenty also won't it? that will cover the expensive repairs for you, get yourself one, LR's are very good.
My parents were concerned as well, as its main competition was the Lexus GX470 and the BMW X5, but all I can say is that it has been flawless so far. In fact, my mom just took a road trip and enjoyed it throroughly.
I'll probably get it if I can find a HSE-7 near me. I don't think there is another truck that can compare to it. I've bought first year cars before, including the Nissan 350Z when it was still a concept car, so I've taken risks. I just don't to be driving the Chevy caviler that hertz gives me when I'm telling people how great the LR3 in the shop is.
does anyone know if the 06's are going to cost more (being I can't get one under msrp)

I would not hesitate. I've had one for two months now and driven it in many off-road trips as well as on interstate travel. It is a glorious machine. No problems at all, none. But, just in case, I did a four year lease. When the warranty expires, the new one arrives.
thanks to all,
I guess the reliability issue doesn't scare me too much being that I just bought a HSE-7. will be in on 7/10. the salesman took me on their off road course in back of the dealership- WOW!!! though 1 1/2 feet of water, on a 35% side incline, on just 2 (one front/one back wheel), up a 45 ft hill (25% incline) foward and backward without using the breaks- NO problem- like driving to the mailbox.

Hello,
I just ordered my 2006 LR3 HSE a couple of weeks ago. It will cost you a little more but it's worth it! They made most of the options as standards. Third row seats are now standard with the 2006 model. You will also get the Front Park Distance Control. 2005 models only have the back, 2006 you will get both. Personal telephone integration system was also added. I hope this helps.

I took delivery of my LR3 HSE on 12/23 and it has been a great, reliable vehicle. I actually put it in the shop today for its first scheduled maintenance, and to have 2 small adjustments made, pretty easy stuff.
I too was hesitant about buying a brand new vehicle early in the first year of production, but seeing what Ford has done with Jaguar, I took the leap and have not regretted it at all.
Go for it, enjoy!
