How exciting cranking it for the first time and then "Oh Thank God it's running!" Lol Very nice work!!

Quick Question: With a warm restart (eg. Restarting the vehicle after filling up for gas), does it make a warm 'knock' for ~90 seconds that disappears to the first video engine idle sound?

I'm curious if after all the work and timing refresh, if that's just the nature of this 5.0L engine.

Overall Great work and I hope you enjoy the fruits of your labor a while!!

We put 22 miles on it today just puttering around town. I did shut it off and restart multiple times and I can't say that I recognized any distinct knocking upon restart. I will listen a little bit closer over the next couple days and see if I can recognize what you're talking about. I have seen people online discussing a knocking sound that they seem to attribute to the high pressure fuel pump. These also run off of a cam so I could imagine them wearing out over time and causing a light tapping.

It would be fairly noticable - thanks for the follow-up! I just see newer 5.0 build dates make the same noise so after your rebuild I was curious if it's absent now in the work you did or simply a noisy aspect of the engine.

Again - great work! Always fun to finally get on the road and enjoy the hard work.
