Default 2014 Pricing Question

Looking to move from an LR3 to LR4, and focusing on a 2013 or newer. I am well acquainted with the differences and pros/cons of the V6 years vs the v8 years and all of the common issues (timing guides, coolant crossover pipes, etc). However, I am seeing 2015 and 2016 LR4s go for a significant premium over 2014, which was the first year of the refresh and new SCv6. In many cases there is as much as a $10k+ price difference for 2014 vs a 2015/16 with a similar build sheet and mileage. To me this is the exact same truck minus the in-control apps which I don't care about. Is there any particular reason to avoid the 2014 MY? To me it seems like a no brainer unless you are fixated on getting the newest MY possible. The 2014s seemed to be priced along the lines of the 2013s in terms of price which makes no sense since the trucks are very different.

I’m not aware of any significant differences in the 2014 vs 2015-2016 models. But are you by chance comparing HD trucks to non-HD trucks? There is a huge premium for the HD trucks because, in the 2014-2016 years, the HD package not only provided the locking diffs but also the low range gearing.

I don't really see a premium for HD trucks but they do seem to sell quicker. I think there is a hardcore group of people (like myself) who want the HD package and would pay a premium for it, but most others just want Landmark and blackout. Also for what its worth HD seems to be more common on the 2014s than on the 2015/2016s. Few 2016s have it, and those that do are landmark editions that are retailing for $45-50k.
