Default 2015 LR4 Won't Start

This morning my 2015 LR4 wouldn't start. I got in, pressed the brake pedal, pressed the start button and all I got was a faint click in the engine area near the front. All of the systems came on, all of the check lights came on and then went off as usual, radio worked fine. Battery is fully charged (to be sure I jumped it for almost an hour although it showed no sign of weakness), radio plays, all electronics work, windows go up and down. The only odd thing is that message center displays "press brake pedal when starting" which of course I am doing. Key battery is also fine. I did everything in the owner manual (locked and unlocked the car to re-set the alarm) but no luck.

Am I missing something? This is a new car for me, coming from LR3 and I am not used to smart keys at all. I hate to have it towed over this. Also, is there a way to even get it in neutral if this is happening?

thanks for any help!

Follow up to my post. Removed the battery, charged it and had it tested. Good on all counts and has 840CCA available to start. Battery was only 18 months old so I expected this. Also seems to indicate the alternator is charging.

Re-installed the battery. No difference. Behaves exactly as above.

Any advice?

If I have to tow it, how can I even get in neutral? Transmission control won't activate until it starts.

Please help!

I've had this happen a few times. It sounds silly, but after pressing down very firmly on the brake pedal, the car started each time. Worth a shot if you haven't tried it already.

Thanks for the feedback.

I tried a hard press on the brake pedal, but no luck there.

On its way to the mechanic to see if he can figure it out. I will be sure to mention the brake pedal switch.

Also, thanks to YouTube, found out how to put it into neutral even when there is no power to the transmission!
