Default About to buy a 2010 - help

Hello all ,

So like the title says, I’m about to buy a 2010 LR4. It’s going to replace my 99 discovery 2 that has 200,000 miles on it (runs great... frame is rotted!) Anyway, I’m able to get the LR4 for 14,500. I took a test drive and everything seemed to be OK. No clunking in the front end, transmission seemed to shift well (although when I went light on the pedal it seemed to stick in second gear .... allowed to rev up over 2k before shifting....not sure if that’s normal), parking break worked as it should, air suspension worked as it should, and electronics worked as they should etc. I have the Carfax vehicle report that shows a roll back in the odometer a year ago but mathematically it seems like a clerical error. Anyway, there was a timing chain problem fixed at 30k, the water pump was replaced at 50 K, and both lower control arms were replaced about 15,000 miles ago. It has good rubber and overall seems to be in pretty good shape. The issues are that it has a crack in the Sideview mirror, the windshield has a tiny chip in it, and the sunroof leaks ( i’m imagining clog drains as I’ve done some research, but I will need some advice if I get her). It has 93,000 miles on it and is pretty inexpensive as things go here in New Jersey. It comes set up for towing with the factory trailer hitch and wiring harness… I needed that to pull a trailer so that’s a savings of $400 right there. So, I wanted to see what you fine people think, and if you have any suggestions or comments for me. Thanks a lot for the help.

I think I’ve found the one you’re talking about. That seems like a good price with the maintenance history and features (believe it’s an HSE).
Should be a nice upgrade! Since it’s local, might be worth meeting at a dealership and having them do a quick once over or quick computer scan.
Transmissions seem solid, so that doesn’t sound serious. Maybe an adaptation.
Hopefully, you get a good vibe from the seller. I will walk from a car if I don’t think the seller is being completely honest.

I say go for it!
