Talking 2012 LR4 HSE w/150,000

The LR dealership near me has a 2012 LR4 HSE w/150,000miles on it. It was sold and serviced through the dealership and I've seen all the records and maintenance. I don't see any major repairs and all maintenance - including control arms - has been done. I drove it for awhile today and I just absolutely could not believe the car had that many miles on it. They want 16k for it. How bad of an idea is it to pick this up? . I've had Discoveries in the past and have wanted to get back into an LR for awhile. I don't like the new Discovery (and can't afford it) but the LR4 is really my favorite version. Any high milers out there care to offer perspective? I'm thinking it's probably just a few too many miles.. but I am looking for thoughts.

Thank you!

Price seems a bit high to me for those miles, but that does vary by location.

I would pass at 150k miles and wait for the right one.

If you look at KBB or other pricing guides you should be able to get a 2010/11 with half the miles for that price. I would either push very hard on price to buy you a good cushion for maintenance or keep looking for something lower miles.

I am in Massachusetts so the price for LRs tends to be on the higher side - for sure. I agree though, after I gave it time for the allure to wear off a little reality set in. 150k is just way too many miles .. especially at $16,000. Just too risky and given that I drive about 12k - 15k a year I'll be at 200k in no time flat. I'll keep my eyes open for something else. Thank you!

Don't know if you're still in the market but I caught your mention of your Massachusetts location. Have you heard of Louis Frank Motorcars in Danvers? He usually has some really clean older Rovers and he does some nice video walkarounds on his inventory. I have seen some LR3s there over the past couple of years but he may now just be getting into the earlier LR4s. I just tried his website to preview his current stock but it seems to be having some issues. Anyway, might be worth a look. He's also got a youtube channel. There are no recently listed Rovers there but if you look back through the videos you can get an idea of the level of quality that he goes for.
