Default AIR Pierburg brake vacuum pump oil leak

Coincidentally while replacing the alternator recently I found a fresh engine oil leak located on the brake vacuum pump. I cleaned it up and monitored it for a week to see if I could pinpoint the source of the leak and determined it is definitely where the pump is against the oil pan. This would lead me to believe it could be a inexpensive as simply replacing the gasket. However I am torn. The R&R is the same either way, I am doing an oil change next week anyway and the cost of a new pump which appears to come with a new gasket any way is not that expensive. Oddly enough searches show quite a few comments on this leak on Land Rovers yet Jaguar use the same pump and gasket and while more plentiful, I could find nothing at all referencing these leaks.

Any one here have thoughts or experience with this and what would you do and why?

I honestly cannot tell from the picture, but there is an updated version of the pump. Some newer years had it, some did not. Regardless, this leak is more common as these vehicles age.

personally, I would replace the pump and gasket. If the gasket alone didn't fix the issue, I would not want to have to redo the install--some say to drain the oil, some do not.

It's a 2015 and has the latest style pump. I decided to just replace the gasket and hope that's the right decision. Even though I'm doing an oil change at the same time, I'll remove the pump first to get an idea of how much oil drains out in case I have to do it again. Going to have to wait another week though as the main dealer tightened the filter cap so tight, I broke my wrench trying to unscrew it and waiting a new one to arrive this week.

Ah, yes. I saw your post on land rover world. It's a love / hate relationship sometimes with these things. It is much more frustrating when the previous owner, or a shop, does something to make a repair necessary / more difficult.

Have the new gasket but just had a think and realized there is an unlisted "O" ring on the shaft of the pump, anyone know what size it is before I take this apart?

Replaced the gasket today. The old one was hard, flat and square, the new one was soft and had ridges as seen in various stock pics of the part.

EDIT: For reference, I did not loose any oil, the vacuum line was easy, just give it a squeeze top and bottom and off it pops with a hiss.
