Default Buying a LR4

Hello all,

I arrive in the USA this week from South Africa. I’ve been transferred to the US with my family.

I been driving Land rovers most of my life and most recently I’ve had a LR3 for the last 5 years.

Im sold on getting a LR4 when we arrive and have a few questions.

Whats the best place to shop for one? Autotrader?

Are there any specialist independent LR service shops in Salt Lake or Reno?

Thanks
Craig.

I'm on my second LR4 and bought them both pre-owned. I was lucky with the first one and found it at a local dealer. My current one is a 2013 HSE and I found it online using cars.com. I also used autotrader and carfax.com. All of these services have mobile apps which I used in conjunction with their websites. You can also find cars on ebay and craigslist.org. These apps can be set for a certain distance from you and search within that radius. I live in the DC area and drove up to NYC to pick mine up, for instance. Of course you can also search nearby LR dealers for their used inventory.

One of your big decisions is what engine you desire. The 5.0L V8 was offered through the 2013 model year. After that it's the supercharged V6 with the popup rotary dial shifter vs the traditional shifter stalk on the 2013 and earlier.

To find a LR independent mechanic near you, try this directory: https://www.lrshops.com/

Welcome to the U.S.! Hope your move and LR hunt go smoothly.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy it and also your stay in the US.

I run an LR4 3.0 SDV6 twin turbo and it's a magical machine, good power, good torque and most importantly, good on fuel. I have been more than happy with the LR4 for nearly 2 years now, I bought it from new. To date it's never given me a moments trouble and is very comfortable and relatively fast. It's just about to do around a circa 3000 mile trip to the UK and back with lots of running around there but no worries. If you go for the LR4 (D4) you'll be very pleased with it.
