Default Check Engine Light

Hello!
Mom new to this forum. My daughter and I are away on a girls trip about 160-180 miles from home. My check engine light came on this morning and it’s solid-not flashing. Car sounds okay but one time I turned it on with AC on and the RPMs ramped up pretty high. Once AC was off, seems to sound normal. Took it to O’Reilly and they got 18 codes on it. Codes were all cylinders misfired and block 1&2 oxygen/fuel alarm. Not sure if I’m saying these correctly. Would you feel comfortable driving the car back to Houston or do you think it’s best to have it looked at here in New Braunfels, TX where we are vacationing? We originally planned to leave tomorrow. Any advice would be appreciated!

Could be fine but it’s mighty hot sitting on the side of the road in middle of nowhere TX especially if you don’t have cell service. Could be as simple as the MAF sensor, but without all the codes pulled by a Rover computer its hard to say.

My call would be have it checked out in the AM

Thank you for the advice. I’ve decided to drive it to the closest LR dealership tomorrow morning. It’s 40 minutes away. I’m hoping for the best. I fear that having it looked at by a local mechanic would be too risky and expensive being that we are out in the middle of nowhere.

Just following up: I got it into LR in San Antonio this morning without any issues. They hooked it up and ran their codes and determined it was a “vacuum pump leak most likely caused by a cracked diaphragm.”They assured me it was okay to drive to Houston. So, we are back in Houston and our local LR will take a look tomorrow. I’m happy to know this forum is available and I really appreciate the advice!

Now that's a happy ending.
