Default Discovery 4 Gearbox Fault.

Hi guys, new too the forum.

My Discovery 4 has developed a gearbox fault.

Won’t select Drive all the time (Very intermittent) and when selecting CommandShift is comes up “Gearbox Error” usually waiting 15 - 20 mins engine off it will select drive or sometimes moving the gear selector with a wee bit extra force puts it in too Drive. Park, Reverse & Neutral are all okay.

it was due to get a transmission flush but the specialist LR garage I use is closed at the moment. The car has done 81k and someone said that may be enough too resolve the problem.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Stay safe!!

Did you get anywhere with this?
I have a similar prob with mine.
fine 95% of the time then all of a sudden it tells me there’s a gearbox fault (automatic transmission)and won’t go up through the gears. Leave it off for 15-20 mins seems ok again.
tried the gearbox flush… had a smooth month then it kicked in again today

Default 2012 Discovery 4

Hi,

I've been getting a similar issue. Will be fine in start up but then after sometime will get stuck in drive, the lights for the gear shift will go off also. When I come to a stop and want to shift to any other setting the gear shift will be stuck and cannot change. The issue is intermittent but getting more regular. Normally the issue will resolve on restart but come back.

It's a 2012 model with approx 85k miles.

Any advice?

Cheers.

Went to my local 4x4 specialist and they recommended replacing the unit which I now have. They were surprised it had lasted as long as it had working intermittently.

Looks like when people who cry for Help and Support, get it and solve the problem eventually, they dont have the courtesey to come back and explain what the fix was, so others will know, Selfish people if you ask me ''my cars fixed now who cares about the forum'' but you were gratefull to accept the help, tut tu tut .
