Default Drivetrain Shuddering when hot at speed LR4 2010

Hi all,

Just picked up LR4 number 3 - 2010 96k miles.

The vehicle drives lovely at low speeds and fine on the freeway for ten minutes.

After those freeway speeds the transmission gets a very heavy shudder (violent) and also a smell of gear oil. So bad I crawled off the freeway, power cycled and then drive at 30 until I could park up for fish and chips.
The shudder stayed with the landy until I dropped to very low mph

I drove it 30 miles after that at no more than 50 and apart from the occasional smell of hot gear oil she runs fine.

The tires all appear to be new with equal tread on all 4 corners.

After I pulled up I put a temperature gun on the front diff, gearbox sump, rear diff and they were all 135F ish - the engine sump was 165F ish.

Even with all the shuddering I think the gearbox was shifting ok (even though it has a small shunt 1st to 2nd) so I am maybe thinking transfer case...

Any ideas on where to start looking or has anyone had a similar issue.
