Engine Seized
I’m really looking for advice and wondering if the same issue has happened to anyone else. We have a 2015 Discovery and on driving it at the weekend there was a sudden loss of power and a gearbox issue flagged up on the dash, we were stuck literally in the middle of the road with lorries flying past and horns been blasted (incredibly stressful as well as a very close near death experience to say the least) and had to wait for recovery to come, we were quite a trek away from home (2 hours) but we managed to get the car towed back to a garage near to home, they’ve managed to check it over and have told us it’s a seized engine and have been quoted over 10k. In the past we’ve had warning messages flag up telling us if the oil was low and we’ve topped it up when needed, it’s serviced regularly and it’s been quite well maintained. I’m not mechanically minded I’m going to be honest, I couldn’t tell you how to even check the oil in it as it doesn’t have a dipstick, I’ve always just relied on the car giving me a warning to tell me if something is wrong (and touch wood it has up until now). I’m just wondering where I stand and if anyone could give any advice on the situation, thanks
