Hi Geo, this is an EOA of a new to me ‘10 LR4. It’s about time to pull another sample, will update once I do that as well.

@akando Interesting....have the timing chains/tensioners been done? How does the engine sound?

@Geo As far as I can tell, no they have not been done yet, motor is nice and quiet...Hoping that with a few shorter interval oil changes the metals will clear up. With my most recent oil change, I used Shell Rotella 5w-20 Gas Truck oil, along with a can of BG MOA. Thinking about switching to the FCP Euro Liqui-Moly kits, but haven't decided one way or the other yet.

So I just completed my first Oil Change on our recently purchased 2012 LR4. We bought it with 92K on it and it is just about to turn 100k so I thought I would use the Liqui Moly Engine Flush and Ceratec since I don't know the service history as far as Oil Changes. I wanted to "Clean the Slate" as much as I could.
I also switched to Castrol Edge 5w40 as I live in SW Florida and it is always Hot here. Very few Cold mornings, 1-3 maybe per year. Atlantic British shows a 5w40 Castrol Edge Pro on their website recommended for Range Rovers in Warm Climates so I figured it would be good for me as well.
My initial impressions are Wow, what a difference in quieting the motor down. I always thought the engine was a little loud and couldn't tell if it were the chains or lifters or what but this has helped quite abit!
It's only been 24 hours so far but after the initial start up the engine sounds a lot quieter. You could just hear the engine quieting down as the new oil got flowing through out it, had one lifter still ticking and a little throttle blip and it went away. Will be interesting to see how she runs today as I have lots of running around to do.
Will keep you updated if anything would happen but this definitely helped quite a bit.

Just thought I’d share the analysis from my last oil change. Most recent numbers on the left. About 8,800 miles on the oil.
2013 5.0L LR4 at 121,000 miles.
Metals seem to be steady, no sign of unburnt fuel or coolant and oil seems to be in good shape. Plan to change my oil at 12k and retest. I appreciated the bit of good humor in the comments from the tech.

Sorry,. The Mobil site does not state WSS M2C925-A anywhere.. wondering where you might have saw that.

No one is mentioning which filter you're using. What's your preferred brand, or does it matter if we're changing so frequently?

I use Mahle filters. An LR mechanic had suggested only Mahle or LR OEM with an earlier Disco 2 that I had to ensure maximum oil pressure. I usually buy two at a time from Atlantic British (Rover parts).

My LR4 is just under 129k miles, so will likely do another change/ test in the next month or two. It feels wrong to go over 10k miles even though the lab is saying that my oil is in great shape. Wasted money, maybe….
