I recently purchased a project 2012 LR4 HSE LUX. I picked it up for $1200 and trailered it home. The previous owner said he was driving it home and it died. He was able to get it started again and limp home. He took it to a local mechanic and was told it just needs a new engine. After he attempted some repairs/diagnosis he gave up and that's where my adventure has begun.
When I picked it up the valve cover was in the back of the LR4 and the cams had a little bit of rust on them. I tore the motor down to the block and built it back up, New head gaskets and new bolts, new cross over pipes front and rear, new injectors, new plugs. I did the timing chains and guides. After a few months she came back to life and started! It fires right up every time and sounds great when running. I checked compression across all cylinders and all within 8 psi. After going through all this I am still getting some codes for misfires.
P0301/2/3/4/5/6/7/8- Getting a misfire code for all Cylinders
P0300- Random Misfire
P0316-Misfire detected on start up
P0313- Misfire with low fuel
P02F1- Injector circuit Range/performance
The truck sat for about 8 months when you combine the time, he let it sit and the time I got it running.
I was thinking it was a fuel pressure/quality issue. I got as much fuel out of the tank as possible and added some fresh 93 octane and a can of BG44.
At idle 800rpm fuel pressure is right about 500psi and when driving around the block I am seeing about 1800psi fuel pressure.
All injectors are new and also the plugs are new.
High pressure fuel pumps are also new. I now understand why the dealerships quote 2-3k to replace them.
My thoughts are new low pressure fuel pump and filter but other than that option I am running out of reasons she wont run like she should. I drove around the block and under 20 mph no issues but once you go above 20mph it goes into reduced performance mode.
I am optimistic that I am close to getting it back on the road soon. Any help/advice on next steps would be appreciated. I have read so many great threads on this forum as I have been building this LR4 back up. The day I picked her up The beginning of the tear down. The previous owner bent the timing cover to look inside vs taking the crank pulley off New Head gaskets are about to go on First drive out of the garage

The main issue is the misfires. Its throwing codes for Misfires on cylinder 1-8, a Random misfire code, Misfire with low fuel code.
It starts up no issues, sounds fine but when you try and drive it more than 20mph it goes into restricted performance.
These are the codes I'm getting.

Got it back from the mechanic and it was bad set of injectors. They found 3 of the 8 not working. #4 was a completely dead cylinder. Switched everything out for OEM and she is driving great.
Back on the road! Have a few minor things to do but drove 15 miles yesterday with no problems. Hopefully able to get some money back for the old injectors.
Last things on the list are new coolant reservoir- Dash keeps showing low coolant but coolant is full.
Breaks wear sensor is showing brake light on dash so new pads are on the way.
You've done darn well for having taken on a LR4 needing a new emgine!
And seeing what they look like in pieces I get why most mechanics pass on the job or give you the "I don't want to do it" price. I'm always looking for such a project myself. Long term, like over winter type project.
Did you have the heads milled or install the steel inserts?
