Default Importing a LR4 into Canada

Has anyone imported a Land Rover into Canada recently? I know they are on the admissible list but was wondering what does Land Rover Canada charge for doing the DRL's, paper work etc. I know companies like BMW have a ridiculous charge of a $1000 plus for this service, is LR the same?
Looking at a 2011 or 2012 LR4.

Thanks
Kevin

My first question is why? Years back when the LR3 came out there were much better deals in the USA. Now I find the used LR4 prices comparable. If you are patient and scour Kijiji and Canada Trader you can get a good deal. You may have to travel as Vernon may or may not be the hot bed of Land Rovers.

Now specifically with the LR4. LR did something diabolical with the LR4. They made a miles only speedo for the US and KM only for Canada. An import into Canada would require a gauge cluster swap. You may be able to get away with numbered stickers but I doubt it... I would imagine that swapping the cluster will cancel out any potential savings.

Interesting, you are right about Vernon, I have been watching Kijiji and CL and find on the average, for the price of a similar mileage LR4, I can upgrade a year in the U.S. But considering your point of the speedo refit, that certainly changes things. Not to interested in a vehicle from eastern Canada.
Appreciate the feedback, this is why I asked.

No worries, if you check Calgary area often you should be able to dig up a good deal. I was Able to find a 2010 this spring that I could not pass up. No differences really between 2010 and 11.

Upgrades to infotainment and nav are the key to 2012+.

What are you looking for? 7 seater? Hse Lux?

We are in no rush but both wife and I believe a LR4 is what we will look for. I realize the LR3 and LR4 are not as DIY as the earlier models but would be interested in hearing your review, good and bad.
I will be looking in western Canada now, besides I enjoy the hunt.
Any model will be fine, no grand kids yet so no real need for DVD etc. Is the 7 seater an option?
