Sure, and I emphasize that had this defective part had been installed at the dealer, it has a warrantee. And with mitigating factors, JLR good will.

Else you’re on your own. I concur, recording the temps would be worthwhile. It would be interesting to see the difference in temp on the rad and on the engine.

I see what you’re saying about the warranty. Unfortunately, the previous owner did not have it installed at the dealership.

The new thermostat that I ordered from jagbits.com arrives today. I’ll monitor the engine temps from both probes for a while and give you a report.

Update

I installed the aftermarket thermostat a couple days ago and have driven approximately 700 miles since without and issues. I monitored the temp on both probes and they both ranged between 215-221 while driving at 75mph.
