Long cranking when starting

I own a 2010 discovery 4 Tdv6, it cranks for long before it starts. What could be the problem?

You might get more responses from the guys running diesels on disco3.co.uk. The majority of the vehicles here have a 5.0 liter petrol V8 or a 3.0 liter supercharged petrol V6.

Diesel theory…. insufficient fuel pressure, air in the fuel…

Diesels are fairly simple. Fuel, air, pressure.
