Trouble starting when warm
Hey everyone I own a 1999 Land Rover Discovery 2, she has 150k miles and the 4.0L V8 and the automatic. I’ve had the disco for over a year now and have fixed a few problems but there’s one problem I can’t seem to fix.
My Land Rover has issues starting after the motor is already warm. If I start it up for the first time during any part of the day it’ll start right up. But if I wait anywhere between 10minutes to 4 or 5 hours it takes two or three tries for it to start up.
I’ve read up on this in the forums but not much luck. People told me to replace the crank position sensor and I did but no luck. Then I was told to try turning the key on and off to let the fuel pump pressure up to see if it’s lacking fuel but that didn’t help either. I’m sure it’s some kind of a sensor or something but I have no clue what.
I daily drive my rover even with the 8mpgs I’m getting but If I’m being honest it’s embarrassing it takes a couple tries to crank it in public. If y’all can give me any ideas or causes of my problem please let me know, thanks!

Have never heard of this before. Normally CPS is the cause of the hard start when hot, but cranking it two or three times does nothing. Did you put the factory heat shield back on? You can test by pouring water down the rear of the engine on the drivers side, if it starts right away it is bad cps. Bad CPS turns off the fuel injectors. If the CPS test does not confirm it your can squirt some fuel in the intake manifold when hot and if it starts right away then you a have a fuel issue. Could be the CPS, or could be a bad fuel pump. I have heard of them not working when hot from running a while. You could also check the fuel pressure on the test port when hot.
