LR4 Air Suspension Compressor - Dessicant Change?
I am at 68k miles on my 2016 LR4 HSE and want to change the compressor desiccant before moisture damage impacts the system. I have seen desiccant replacement media and filter ends, but not sure if 1). its as easy a job as it appears and 2). If my unit is even serviceable. I found a video on YouTube showing the desiccant replacement for a Landrover - see:
but am not sure if the 2016 LR4 compressor is the same, though a picture of the replacement unit at FCP Euro looks the same. Also, is this something I can crawl under the car and remove, service and reinstall OR will the air suspension lower even more when I disconnect the power and crush me.
Rule 1-never never never crawl under a Rover only supported by the EAS for any reason!!
Sorry, had to say it.
Other than that, I'm not sure if there is a big difference between LR3 and LR4 comoressors. Changing the dessicant isn't terribly difficult and give you the opportunity to inspect the drier chamber cap for hairline cracks and leaks. You might even consider getting a metal one.
