I find it interesting that over the years, the secondary, fine grained, in line fuel filter has been removed.
Though included on the xjr and xkr, it does not exist on the LR4.

I’m of half a mind of substituting the “in tank filter” for a fine meshed “in line filter” when maintenance is needed on the tank.

Cheers!

Default Low pressure fuel pump after recall

I had the fuel filler flange recall done and immediately after that kept getting P00890 code. Went back to LR and they quoted 2377.00 for new LP fuel pump. My truck exhibited NO bad symptoms other than code. Drove it to shop and installed new LP Pump from Continental (OEM) and it ran for 3 miles and died. Now turns over and does nothing except act as if no fuel. Now replacing filter. Also pump another pump in thinking I had bad one from parts store. Still doing same thing. Does LR lock up vehicle after fuel pump is replaced and does pcm need to be reimagine? I am stuck here with what has been a perfect car since we bought new. Thanks

I have LR4 2016 with code P008A and P0089. I checked actual value "fuel pump duty cycle" was 45%, so fuel pump is bad.
I replaced with URO one, not sure it is good brand. And I got oposit situation and code P008B pressure too high. Also afte replace fuel pressure sensor in low side. Same codes.
Pressure now around 800kPa at idle but desire actual value is 650kPa. And duty cucle value ia 10%
Going replace fuel pump again with OEM from dealer.
Also PCM software is updated already.

2015 with both these, but seems to run just fine.
  • P008A-07 (AE) Low pressure fuel system - Pressure is too low - General failure information - mechanical failure
  • P0089-64 (2F) Fuel pressure regulator performance - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
How are you checking the duty cycle, with Gap tool?

Default 2016 LR4 Check Engine Light after recall for Gas Flange

Looks like I am not the only one having this issue. Took my 2016 LR4 with 55k miles into the dealership for the safety recall (gas flange) and within two weeks
the check engine light came on. Took it back to dealership and they said i needed a new fuel pump and SWEARED the two were not connected and they had "never seen this before." They quoted
me $1900 to replace, I opted to take it to my other mechanic. Sure enough the fuel pump needed to be replaced at $1200, I replaced it..... check engine light is still on. They thought it might be a bad fuel pump, so
they replaced again, they have checked every sensor imaginable and had a Land Rover tech come by and update all the codes - nothing seems to be working. Drives like a champ, no issues.... just the check engine light is on. Was planning on selling it in the next couple of months, so I really need to get this resolved! Has anyone found the remedy to this issue?

a couple thoughts:
- when replacing the fuel flange it is VERY EASY for debris to fall into the tank. there are a lot of dirt and small pebbles stuck under the flange. so if they havent cleaned it carefully, that will all fall straight into the tank. I cleaned mine really well and still had a bunch of junk and pebbles fall into the tank I had to fish out. It was like panning for gold...I had to slosh the fuel to one side of the tank, let the debris settle there, then slowly tilt the tank so the fuel would go to the other side, then try to wipe out the grit left over. I guarantee the shop mechanics did not go through that effort
- the fuel filter is separate from the fuel pump. its also NOT listed on any of the parts diagrams, or in the workshop manual. I did not know it was even there until I opened the tank. its clipped to the top of the tank while the pump is clipped to the bottom of the tank. mine had mesh pre filter on it and looked fine, but I dont know the condition of the internal components or the filter itself, as you couldnt take it apart without breaking it. since I didnt have a replacement for it, and didnt even know where to look for one, I took a gamble and just replaced the pump. your issue may be with the fuel filter itself. you can ask the shop if they replaced that, but I suspect they didnt.
- just messing with the pump when replacing the flange may have disturbed the pump.
- I also think it may be related to running the tank low. my wife is notorious for that...so that could have contributed to my pump going bad
- did you get the firmware update when they replaced the pump? there is a service bulletin about that, and my indy felt that may solve the problem, because they hadn't seen many pumps go bad. unfortunately it didnt help. I tried that before I replaced the pump.

Did you ever get your light to go off? PCM was updated. Does not look like fuel filter was replaced and like you said i am SURE Landrover did not go thru the effort to look for debris after replacing flange. Easier to tell me i needed a new fuel pump at 55k miles - which still did not solve the issue. Wish me luck with the dealership the second time around, I will definitely ask them about debris in the tank, and the fuel filter.

yes replacing the pump solved the issue for me. however I had also replaced the low pressure sensor prior to that, and also flashed the firmware. replacing the sensor made the light got out for a couple weeks but then it came back. flashing the firmware just cleared the light for a day. so see if they did those as well.
