It didn't roll but there are limits built into the software and probably somewhere in the manual for side angles.

That is why I would be interested in seeing the data from the computer. I would like to see if he hit that threshold according to the computer, or if it glitched and caused deployment.

Not taking a side just curious more than anything

Understood, just sucks that it deployed without an actual roll over.

True but I could see how you would want it to deploy before the actual impact in a roll over for cushioning and protection from glass debris.

This is probably completely dependent on the angle sensors.

I watched the video, and when the airbags deployed. The vehicle seem to go over a bump and air born/slide at the same time. The implications of this motion on the XYZ sensors, would make the vehicle think it was about to roll over.
The design is that, so when the vehicle senses a series of evens at just the right moment, the bags will deploy. The idea on a roll over is to deploy before the event horizon takes place. Thus preventing the head and vehicle form coming in contact.
I would be curious to see the raw data from LR, but that will never happen.
