Unhappy LR4 Tow Hitch Receiver

Purchased the
OEM tow hitch receiver OEM tow hitch receiver
and it's not installing to the vehicle properly. The metal pin doesn't fully engage into the opening it should on the vehicle and let's just say it's not as easy as this
. One Amazon review says to "slam it up" but that doesn't work either and would seem to just damage it. The hitch receiver itself works fine as I can depress the plunger on top that makes the metal pin fully deploy, snapping into place as it should then able to lock and remove the key. Trying this on the vehicle just doesn't work. Hoping someone can shed some light if there is something I'm missing.

I had same problem when I installed it into the hitch, it would snap partially into place causing the receiver to lock in the hitch, but the green handle would not fully turn and cover up the red portion of the handle. It turned out the Amazon comment was correct. I just pushed upward harder when first installing it. In other words it won't work to hit the receiver once its partially snapped into place. You have remove it and start over by pushing it (yes almost slamming it harder with more force) upward harder for it to snap.fully in place. You won't damage it. It's a class 3 hitch made of steel.

Default Issue Resolved

Thanks everyone for the advice and comments. After many tries using these tips it still wouldn’t work so I contacted the seller and provided video and photos of the situation. They said the hitch was defective and sent me a new one which snaps right into place with not problems or even a need to slam it. It’s quite a nice system now.
