Hey, first post on LR4 as I bought a 2011 recently, mostly been on D2 forum.

Have researched to death the 18 inch wheel issue but saw these on the new Defender Works. I wonder if they would meet the spec for our LR4's.

A caveat though, they do say that they are exclusive, so they'd be pricey but wouldn't they look good.

Here are the Work Defender Specs. Not a clue if they use the same hole diameter though.

The LR4 is just so heavy that it probably needs a lot meatier brakes.

They are defender wheels. They are not even new, sawtooth has been around for a while. If you want bitchin wheels, get the compmotives or fit the 10 spoke D3 ones.

 

Yes, I have discovered this now, the ones coming on the Works Rovers are being milled to reveal some of the metal, they look good.

The compos are an option but personally don't like the look of them for the money. Here in Canada, it'll cost over CDN $3000 dollars just to get the wheels imported directly from Compomotive UK, cheaper than Johnson Rods current offer as well. If Lucky8 still had them I could drive to Buffalo reasonably enough and just pay duty and tax at the border. Saves the shipping and cost maybe than a tank of Gas to get there.

I'm skeptical about running with adapters (they are legal here as long as they are not just spacers and bolt on), this is my daily as well as my future "overlander" not intended to be a rock crawler though. Not planning on a lift anytime soon (or until I think I need it). Not many places around Toronto for weekend warrior off-roading either.

Thinking about just getting the stock 19 Duratracs for now, needs new tires soon anyway and I can a full-size spare wheel for a reasonable price.

Love the LR4 though, was going LR3 and decided to spend a bit more for the 4 without truly getting into studying wheel options.

I quite like the Tuffant steelies, but can't get them imported yet.

The LR3 wheels require adapters or brake shaving but I can't find any pictures of the ground brake calipers. I hate to mess with brakes but I can't really see removing some metal from those "fins" as being a huge issue unless you are descending Mount St Helens or on a race track lol.

Try the ExpeditionPortal Discovery 4 thread, I know of one LR4 that just did the Rebelle with 10 spokes, similar solution. That one is on norcalrovers forum
