New vacuum pump leaking ????
2012 5.0
Check out the vid where It’s leaking. This is the sandwich adapter on the pierburg pump. Not the gasket up against the pump and the block.
Need some advice from a tech or somebody familiar with vacuum.
Not sure-Long story short I just completed the timing on my 2012. What prompted the chain change was miles and a leaks feom the front timing cover. Atleast thats where j tjought the leak was. None the less,it’s got a complete timing set on it and the front timing cover is also new. What I thought was a front timing cover leak was a vacuum system leak in the old style version 1 pump.
FAST FORWARD 200 miles later.
I had the version 1 vacuum pump that was leaking at a bolt that I could not get to stop, even after a new RKK gasket set was installed on that pump, it was still leaking. It was like 4 orings. Some advice from this forum was just to change the pump to the updated version 2 pump that uses longer bolts. I ordered it and put it in and it was leaking at the sandwich adapter that I outlined in the video. I took it back off and put a thin coat of hylomer gasket stuff from ab on that seal let it cure after installing it on the rover.
It’s bubbling around that gasket and it's leaking pretty bad.
Same result as before. It's torqued and nothing is pinched I tried many times resulting in a leak. I dont have any brake issues or check engine lights just massive leakage on this pump and it seems like it builds pressure and just releases. It seems like something builds up and just explodes at the vaccuum pump resulting in everything under the pump getting soaked in oil.
What do I need to check next.
Somehow something is excessive in pressure when it ruptures. Is there something I can check on the pierburg pump to ensure the pump isnt faulty. I bought the pierburg pump off eBay for 145 bucks. I assume it’s OEM but like all things eBay it might not be. Regardless it should not be blowing out at the seal after repeated attempts to install.
Took the pump apart- not much to see- looks like a simple operation.
Can’t drive it any type of distance without having oil vent from this pump gasket.
What gives and why is this thing still leaking. Everytime i go on a test run after cleaning the undercarriagee i am blessed with an oil bath under there to clean again.
Thanks in advance.
