Default Replacing tailgate carpet with rubber/plastic

This may be a dumb question, but it seems that the carpet on the rear tailgate is a collection area for dirt and grime. Is there anyone that has found perhaps a way/part to replace the carpet with rubber mat material? Maybe plastic? Anything better than carpet. Ideas? Thanks!

I bought a rear cargo area cover. It came in a couple parts, one being a small section for the rear deck. The cover sucked, a lot. But I did keep the deck cover installed. It attached via velcro and matches the dimensions. It perfect for my dog to jump onto and get some of that dirt off. You could probably get some rubber matting, cut it to fit and velcro it on or use button rivets.

This cheap bastard:

The problem is the material is just too thin so it does not hang well or lay well. The fit was pretty good, its certainly not universal. One issue I had is that I lower the second row A LOT and the cover simply does not work for that at all. I may create one on my own and use button rivets snaps so I can remove it. I guess I was not expecting much for the price though.

I recently contacted a seat cover company that may be able to make replacement coverings. Will update when I have info.
