Timing chain replacement
Gday all, wondering if anyone has replaced their timing chains and guides themselves?
I have just replaced mine engine was runninggreat justnoisy (2011 lr4 5.0) I found the right fixed guide broken in half and the boot broken off in the block.
The one thing that has me somewhat confused is before removing anything I tried turning the engine over to set the camshafts for the locks. While doing this I noticed the engine would stop turning and felt solid but turn back the opposite way. I was able to get everything in the correct position for the camshafts and the 2 other locks. After replacing everything which went well (I didn't change the cam phasers) I again tried turning the engine over and still it will turn a certain amount and stop like a piston is hitting a valve.
The scary part is what's going to happen when I crank it over to start! I'm hoping someone else has come across this problem and can tell me if it's normal or that I need to go back in and see what could of happened.
