Towing with 2012 LR4: Hitch height and tongue weight
My LR4 has the factory hitch installed and the actual hitch seems a little lower than average. I have the shorter LR hitch receiver. The vehicle is stock height. I'm assuming I don't want a ball mount that is dropped/lowered more than the existing reciever? Get a ball mount that comes straight out? This looks like it would be still too low...
Also, the LR hitch assembly that locks in and out of the hitch framing has a tongue weight rating of 770 lbs. I'm trying to pull a camper trailer with a tongue rating of about 550 lbs. but I could easily over load the tongue weight beyong 770lbs. Is the LR hitch assembly safe to pull heavier tongue weights? I can't redo the whole hitch system. thanks

The Land Rover ball mount actually has about a 1" rise to it.

If you need a higher tongue weight, there are stand alone receivers you can buy.
but a 750lb tongue weight is pretty high. Also if you exceed the tongue rating you run the risk of uncontrollable trailer sway.
