Default 2000 Discovery 2 CLD lever came today!

As a new Discovery 2 owner, I found out the hard way that I do not have the ability to lock my diff from the factory. I promptly ordered a used lever setup from a 1997 discovery 1 and installing it this weekend.

The round arm that hooks to the Hi/low shifter arm on our D2, will need to be bent to fit it. Be careful when doing this, I had a friend here i Denver break the arm in the process of bending it. Some people will also buy a D1 Hi/low plate to replace the one on their D2, this eliminates the need to bend the arm making it more of a plug and play.
When done you will like all the extra traction you get when locked up, have fun.

Thank you Mike. Do you happen to know the part # of that plate or do you think a dealership would know what I am talking about? Is this the plate that is on the transfer case correct?

Call Paul Grant (contact info in Mike's signature), he will know just what you are talking about.

If you cannot locate one and go with the "manly" way ...what i did was traced out the original configuration on piece of cardboard (lay the lever down and trace) then measured the distance it need to be bent, mark the distance on the cardboard and bend the lever to that position. Helps eliminate the guess work and bolting/unbolting multiple times... I think i got lucky and only made 1 bend and it went right in....should have bought a lottery ticket that day! damn.

Be glad you didnt have to take apart your t-case...i learn the real hard way....just had to have that 03 black on black...

Default Something to think about

I took out the shift locking solenoid when I put the shifter in my 99. It was not letting me shift in to low. I read on here they go bad so better not to take a chance and be stuck in low away from home. It keeps you from shifting into low while moving. I just don't shift on the fly.
This would be a good time to remove it.
