Badlands vs. Superwinch

"fast" is pretty subjective. Some of these winches are so slow in a straight line pull that when you add a ****** block its downright painful.
When I was winch shopping I kept looking at used winches. By the time I added the $100 cost of the Albright solenoid and ~$200 of synthetic line there really wasn't much cost savings left to be realized with a used winch.

I know these were not on your list but I would seriously consider the new Gen2 Smittybuilt winches. I got their 10k X2O for $399 shipped. It's Waterproof (I think ip65 or ip67 rated), has a 5 year electrical and lifetime mechanical warranty. Includes a wired and wireless remote. You can get the 9.5k xcr one for $349 I think. But I like the X2O better.
I used the heck out of it last month recovering a DII with a busted rear diff and broken front drive shaft. It worked really well for the $ even when winching 2 trucks up a muddy hill climb.

One of my 8274's I found for $200 on a chrome Ford winch bumper (which I sold for $250) but the winch needed a new motor (it actually ran but was a big chunk of rust) and the winch needed cleaned and re-sealed. But new they are over $1500.
Of course, for those deals I wasn't really winch shopping, just stumbled over them.

The last time I looked at their lines the numbers didn't add up. By that I mean their 1/2" line was rated the same as other brands 3/8" line. That made me very skeptical and one could draw the conclusion Tuff Stuff uses an inferior material and compensates with more of it(larger diameter).
Cheap is cheap is cheap. Just buy the dirt cheapest one you can find, they'll all perform about the same. There's plenty of info/reviews on the web for just about any winch you can think of. Google is your friend.
I still stand by my statement that recovery is no place to cheap out. Yes a cheap winch is better than no winch, but when it stops on you when you need it most you'll be wishing you spent some more on a little better quality. The difference between getting a better winch is usually a few hundred, if you're sharp.
