Hello all,
I was looking at my disco (2001) and thought she could use some new mud flaps. I have made some for big truck out of semi flaps but they were purely keeping mud and road spray down. My question is, has anyone made flaps that are practical AND look good?
I made mine from black 1/8 inch thick semi flexible plastic. Smaller than stock so not to get bunged up on rocks. Made cardboard pattern and flipped it for left and right side.
Can't seem to load pic.

There are some special panels that bolt onto the bottom of the wheel tub at the back and bolt onto the bottom of the rear quarter and to the boot floor side panel vertically with a small "C" section strap, the flaps then bolt to these.
I made a great many sets out of old conveyor belt and recently made some from an old tyre. Near side rear mud flap panel. Off side rear mud flap panel. Card template and mud flap cut from conveyor belt. Fitted mud flap.
too easy! Thanks! Now the question is, can I buy those brackets here in America or could I make some for cheap?
I wouldn't buy them again, i would make the whole thing from the wheel tub down out of a piece of conveyor belt and use some stainless steel flat bar to mimic the bend where the mudflap bracket goes from the diagonal to the mounting of the rubber flap.
I am sure that Atlantic British will have them or be able to get them, but they are easy enough to recreate on a folder or a press brake out of 14 gauge sheet metal, card template and an angle gauge should be golden.
