Yes, it does take a little bit of fabrication to get these grilles to fit. I'd like to see someone install one of these grilles with the stock bumper as you will have a little bit less clearance from the top of the bumper to top of the headlights. I would say you had to do more fabricating for the D1. The top mounting points line up on the D2 but you will need to fabricate an extension for the space between so the grille will line up with the headlights, lower mounting brackets need to be removed with the Dremel tool as it makes the assembly too tall. I fabricated an adapter to bolt on to the bumper and screw into the lower grille. I need to take mine off too to show the lower adapter and I'll post that in a short while.

Here's a picture of the top mounting spacer, I used a piece cut out of some metal roofing flashing and then bent the ends over.
