Default LR3 glass roof

Anyone have an idea of the cost to replace the glass roof on a LR3? Mine is an 07 but I really don't thing there is much difference in them from year to year.

Last I saw just the glass alone is $1,400.00 USD. Which is why I now have a zero deductible full glass coverage rider on my auto insurance @ $3.00/month. With that said, replacement is not easy even for a dealer. The old panel had to be careful removed, the adhesive too. Its a process. So expect labor to be north of $1,000.00 also.

It would be nifty if a metal replacement panel could be made.

Metal would be a pain to fabricate and mount. Glassfibre could be made of a mold taken from the original roof, made the same thickness as the glass, and glued into place the same way as the original.

Many of the LR sold outside the US, I think, do not all have the glass roof. For some reason LR thinks we here spend large amounts of time looking up.
If I were keeping this vehicle forever I would consider a lift top similar to what I have seen on Jeeps. Since I have invested in tents and other gear it really doesn't make sense now. Also have the feeling that it would be cost prohibitive. Better to get a Sport mobile and really have room.
Does any company even make a lift top for the LR?

That is like a VW camper pop top, but sure looks great for those who like camping. Is that not an LR4 front end though? Maybe LR3s were a bit different in Euro models...? Good catch!

EDIT: Art H... It IS an LR3, don't know what kool-aid I was drinking yesterday...

Would like to have one of those but I suspect a conflict with my Front Runner roof rack. Might have to rethink my packing system.

No real body differences between the LR3 and LR4.

There are some cutters that you can put on a sawzall that remove the glass pretty easily (took about 15 minutes).

Removing the headliner/ etc makes the job go quicker.

Best bet is to find a wrecked LR3 and grab the glass from it.
I sold the pano roof glass for $100 to a local guy who needed it for his truck. After removing it and installing it into the new truck I believe he was in it about 5-600$ using a local glass company and the used glass I sold him.
