Default LR3 Wheel downsize?

I am sick of the lack of 19" tire options! I really want decent off road tires, but there are very few options for the 19" wheels. It looks like I may have to size down to 18s, but I am worried about other issues. I have a 2007 LR3 HSE, and I was wondering if there were any brake clearance issues if I used smaller wheels. At a tire shop near me, that said that the. HSE needed the bigger wheels because the brake calipers were larger. Is there any truth to this? Any help is appreciated.

No need to have brake work to downsize to 18” wheels. Much better selection of tires at 18. I just got a set of 265/65/8 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and they look and perform great off road.

Other LR3 18's will fit fine and I've also seen some aftermarket 18's that fit. I also have an HSE with 19's and and looking for some 18's. Luckily the tires that came on my LR3 are in decent shape so I have a little time to track down a deal on 18's. If you want to do 17's that's when you have to start changing brake calipers to the V6 spec ones.

I’m running 18’s on my 06 and my 07 no issues. One is on factory 18’s the other aftermarket TerraFirma steel wheels.

I run 17s and love them. You do have to swap brakes and calipers, and you will lose some breaking power but in off-road situations I find the smaller brakes actually modulate a little better for my tastes.

With as heavy as these trucks are downsizing brakes would not be high on my list

It's not like the diesel is any lighter. Do you think it has undersized brakes? Have you ever tried the smaller diesel brakes?

I think the factory brakes are adequate for the vehicle. I am considering upgrading to the LR4 set up in the future. If you use the truck fully loaded or towing you would I'm sure notice lesser brakes
