G'day all. I'm new to the 4x4 scene an am hanging out to throw some mud around. Just need to get rid of the highway tyres that brought the vehicle with. I can get some bfg's on steel wheels with 25mm offset 16". Or 275/65/18 an fit them onto the orig 18" alloys. Question being will either set fit without lift kit

 

No, when going thru dips and especially when off road you will start tearing up your fenders and front bumper.
You didn't mention what year and how many miles on this truck, but it is safe to say your shocks are long since shot and will need to be replaced

 

Thx for your reply. She's an 04 classic td5, done 260,000 km. the shockers are fine. So the 275/65/18 are too tall or too wide or both?

 

If you have factory shocks, the have long since failed, if they were replaced by a set of after market shocks they are soft at best based on your mileage. THe only reason I mention this is because unless you know how to test them, they are shot and by at least replacing them, your Rover will at least perform better with say a 31" tire.

 

265/60r18 is 30.5in tire. It's what I run on my 2004 stock suspension. They fit perfect. Any bigger and you will need to do some trimming and you'll have to flip or alter your spare carrier.

 

Thx for input guys. Decided to give her a 2"ironman lift. getting it fitted tomorrow. Have put bfg's 265/65/16 all terrains on and also hoping to put rock slider on if get time. Then hopefully she be good for a day trip on Sunday. Cheers Cal.
