MOST Bus/Can Bus control
Hi All, hopefully this is the correct place to put this!
It's going to be a long one, as this is the first time I have shared this outside of the Freelander 2/Jaguar XF space. For a long time I have been working on replacing my Jaguar XF touchscreen with a DIY solution. This began with purely Canbus control, and has been an on going project (on and off) for the last few years. I got pretty far with it, Climate control, speed, oil temp, alternator display etc etc. I then focused on making carplay available to a Raspberry Pi, this also went great, and gave a really useable solution. However there was always one thing blocking it, and that was the MOST bus. It's like a black box to the consumer, whereas CAN is completely open, tons of resources online, lots of projects to see, hardware easily available. With MOST there's none of that, and certainly no hardware. So after hitting this brickwall, I set about trying to change it, I won't go over every detail here as the link down the bottom covers the journey from start up until now, but I've developed a Raspberry Pi HAT that allows it to sit on the MOST bus and inject audio, and take control. However what I have found is the MOST bus is very similar between the XF and the Freelander 2, so I suspect it will be the same for Range Rovers and Disco's of the same generation.
This was the last update on the solely canbus application for the freelander (no climate control etc on this one, that's just the jag)
A full run through of the project from start until now is available here:
https://hackaday.io/project/192188-pimost
A video of the beginnings of a MOST bus orientated app can be found here
I hope some people find it interesting, it feels like a good time to share it with the wider community, if there's anyone who is into this sort of stuff and wants to contribute, then feel free!
