I've seen the spray on PlastiDip and it turns out real nice and seems to hold up.

I use that dip in can stuff a bit. holds up great, on my little stuff, if it is not being introduced to solvents. oils and gas have always wrecked my bonds little by little from the edge. have not seen a big problem with the solar effects

If done correctly, it holds up very well. I dipped my chrome bumpers and the mirror housings on my old 4Runner, and it looked decent for about 2 years. I only did a light coating though. The wheels on my Rover are dipped, but I've only had the truck for 2 weeks, and haven't taken it off road yet. You need to apply 4-5 good coats to make it look great.
