I had my Steering Gear Box go, the steering wheel just spun right around. Got a use one from a junk yard for $180 delivered. Then the belt came off. Took it to a local garage for a belt and he it didn't work with a new belt. He said I needed a Power Steering Pump. Got one used on Ebay.com. It didn't work so the mechanic said I needed a new Power Steering Gear Box. I got a rebuilt one and he put it in and said it still didn't work. We found that I had converted my '95 Disco to 300TDI and the Steering Pump on Diesel spins backwars. Cost me 69 pounds plus shipping on Ebay.UK for a Diesel pump. I supplied all the parts and it was $1800 labour.

Hope it brakes down closer to home next time.

He is saying he was buying the wrong pumps till the mechanic pointed out the pumps are different gas/diesel
