Roof Rack Lights
What light you go with is really up to you, its personal preferance. I had a light bar for a while with four Hella 550's(rectangular). I can tell you beam pattern is critical. I had two driving and two fog beams. The fog beams were great. They cast a nice horizontal line of light and very little was cast on the hood. The driving beams were horrible. They threw a ton of light on the hood. Even with a blackout it was terrible.
I sold my light bar and all the lights. Unless you do a TON of night wheeling and have the correct beam pattern roof lights are pretty worthless.

Also, aside from what lights everyone has, how did you wire them? I'm thinking of going with a switch kit from Expedition Exchange:

I'm glad this was brought up. Again, i have a '95 Disco. I bought a spare Fog Light Switch off of ebay, cheap, and popped it in the spare position next to the Cruise Control switch. (useless on my 200tdi conversion). This is hooked to a relay, to my bumper lights.
My questions is: Do i have to get the Aux binnacle that replaces the ashtray(will never use), or can I get another OEM two switch position binnacle off of ebay, and replace the ashtray? Ebay has a couple of of the ones with the cruise control switch already in it. All i need is two more switches, and they are much cheaper than buying the new ones with 3-4 positions.
I guess i could just pop the one i have out, and try and install it where the ashtray is, but if someone knows off the top of their head....

Depending on where you live roof rack lights are prone to getting bashed by branches. I'm on the east coast where that's the case (and trails are twisty) so I went with Peterson Lighting tractor floods. At $25 they are cheap (not a big deal when they get broken) and provide plenty of light at trail (tractor) speeds.
If you're buying for looks, want to see 2 miles down the trail because you're a Baja racer or if what others think of your accesories is important to you then they won't suit.

There are also binnacles that have three switches instead of two. Getting the wires run cleanly to the back is a little tricky but can be done.

That's exactly what i want my set-up to look like. Sorry, my post sounded perfect in my head, and then i re-read it, and it is confusing as hell.
I only have the one binnacle on the left, and it is only two switches, in the middle, with "fake blanks" on the outside. I wasn't sure if the binnacles with the three switches were interchangeable with the ones with two, AND if they could be swapped from the left and right sides of the dash. (meaning either can take the place of the ashtray as well) But it looks like you confirmed that they can.

I just sold off my two extra binnacles too.
Try some of the used parts guys for the switches. Try to get them with the plug/pigtail attached, it makes splicing in wires much easier. There's a drawing on Dweb somewhere of what each pin does.
Basically one pin is ground, one is switched power from your parking lights so the switch illuminates when lights are on, one is power in, one is power out. I would use a relay for sure because these switches aren't designed for a big load.

god one thing I can't stand are the idiots that run offroad lights and don't understand the concepts and parallel and series circuits. Instead of two maybe three wires tops you have more wire then the engine harness all tie strapped to whatever they can put on.
Are you referring to my comment above about the wiring? All the wires I mentioned are stock wiring for a stock switch.
