Upcomming Project: My biggest Challenge
I do take pride in my truck. When I install something inside the cab it looks good. I like my sh*t to look sano, not all half-assed chicken sh*t.
I would say my truck is more "Trail Edition" than yours given where I've driven it and the amount of pinstripes I have from doing so, but I don't need a special badge to tell me that. Everyone knows those brush bars are worthless. They buckle like a belt at anything bigger than a twig. But hey, if it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy to crawl around the mall knowing you have a real "Trail Edition" truck then that's just super. Just because you say it over and over and over and over again in your posts doesn't mean I'm going to suddenly believe you have a truck that's seen a trail.
As far as the ACE, knock your socks off and thanks for publicly declaring it.
Just for the record I'd like to declare that I'll be streaking through the Quad. Who's with me!!!???
Fish- I hear you! I cringe every time I see the term Trail Edition posted.
Triar - We all get that you are very excited about your new vehicle, but we all own Rovers here and quite frankly, yours ain't that special. I tried to help you by answering questions when you first joined the forum and it was pretty clear that you didn't fully understand what you were doing (like when you used the wrong size socket on your calipers and asked why it wouldn't work) but once you went all post happy and extolled the virtues of a driveshaft that you hadn't even seen (nor needed for street use) I concluded that you weren't really here to learn. And now this ridiculous quest for ACE. The idea of someone who was befuddled by a brake job, has no idea how his rear popshaft is put together and needs help from others to find a grease fitting actually installing an ACE system in their vehicle is ludicrous. It is very difficult to take you seriously.
And yeah, I'm in! Lets streak through the quad! (I was going to post a link to that scene but it's got a little too much of Will Ferrel's naked butt in it)

You guys need to learn to have a laugh more often and not be so serious all the time. SO I talk about my truck to much, so what get over it. Thats what this forum in part is for. Im confident in the abilities of my rover with or without fancy accessories, but having extra genuine LR parts and accessories on board excites me. Yes Im here to learn as much as possible about land rovers but eventually I hope to reach a point where I help many people on here with their many questions. In the mean time I will continue to ask questions and take in as much as possible from the rover community. Yes my Disco is very special. Why? Because its mine and I worked my *** off to get it! But then again every rover is special in my eyes. Cant tell you guys just how excited I get when I see another rover on the road - always the highlight of my day. Dont like that? Get over it. In person Im sure I would get along with most every one of you, but online my youthful energy and enthusiasm for these vehicles sometimes annoys the **** out of fellow members. You guys are the only people in the world I have to share my passion with, everyone I know in person either hates rovers or just does not give a **** about cars that much in the first place - so excuse me for bragging and being so active on here. Need a place to vent all my rover related ambitions and tech issues lol. Dont care what you think of me or my truck cause i love it and i love all you guys!!!!
ACE install not worth it man. Nor would be trading for a truck that had it. You have a good truck right now. Lets not forget the thousands of the Disco's out there that are junk, have hidden problems, and have been neglected. Many a Disco have died so you can enjoy yours.
You have a very nice CDL equipped 2004 Discovery, with a nice factory brush bar with lights that has nice astetic purposes. You also have fresh brakes and pads from what I understand, and you don't have a head gasket leak. There is a lot of underrated value in knowing what you have, versus what you think could be so much better.
Yes we all love our Discoveries very much. Being honest I'll take my 2003 non CDL with 2 inch lift and tires over just about any DII that could realistically be offered to me. Why? Because I've taken care of it, I know the maintenance, and compared to others I think she's been relatively good to me. I also have the best color ever made for the Discovery
I would do what was suggested on the first page. Upgrade your suspension and get bigger tires. Seriously a stock Disco looks like a big golf cart. No one likes to admit that but its true. A lift will give the truck an aggressive stature and ability it was always meant to have. I also don't understand your plight with an S model Disco. If anything they are much easier maintain and have much less problems than the "superior" models.
It's your truck and it's a free country, you will have our support if you try to do this job but don't say you weren't warned. Also, if you run into trouble I hope you have some LR mechanics available to help you in person or over the phone. I doubt many if at all have done this job on the forum.
