I sold a robalo R227 a few years ago to a guy in New York. He showed up at my place in central virginia and towed that heavy beast back in a Cayenne. I dont know how the ride was but he sent me a text when he got home and made great time.

My 25 SeaCraft with twins and 170 gallons of fuel checks in at about 7500LBS. Gas motor tows it well and I can easily maintain 65 to 75 mph. Sure footed too.

You know, I didn't do "enough" towing with my Pepper to really be an authority. I have a single axle utility trailer that was maybe 4K loaded so that's not much at all and just that one time with that tandem where I am sure I was exceeding tow limits at least a few trips. Now, was I ever nervous or scared? No. I knew it was back there but that's about it. I was also just going about 35 miles each direction hauling that dirt to our new home. I did have quite a few onliners over on ClubTouareg and Rennlist and elsewhere that did a LOT more towing than I did with the Touareg/Cayenne TDI. I think we only took the small utility trailer to the cabin and back once with the Q5. It did fine despite the smaller/lighter profile.

Offroad, I ordered mine with under body shielding and lockers but, even without 4-low, with the right shoes on it, when you have 450 lb.ft. out of the dealership and ~ 513 or so available at only 1500rpm "post tune", only the most hardcore offroading requires 4 low. And because it has it, I went ahead and put the Disco in 4-low climbing that hill at the cabin and did not make it. Backed down and, just because I was pissed, I went back to 4 high and went right up the hill. One of these hills that had rocks but the problem spots were the loose muddies. Needed more speed. But I'm not going to do "serious" rock climbing with a Touareg, Cayenne, Q5 or a Discovery. Despite all being very competent off road, it is really the wrong tool. Just because it might do it does not a good reason make IMO. Much rather do that in something that, if I F-it-up, I won't care. I think fixing a smashed fog light on my Touareg ended up being nearly $600 when that happened? Kinda like buying one to go REALLY fast around a track. Yeah, they are SO refined they will do that too to a point, especially the Pepper and Q5, but they are still the wrong tool for going REALLY fast.

Yet, going max ECM speed in the first 2 plus the Audi before we got the Disco, they were amazingly well planted at that speed. Reminds me, I have not done the max speed test in Terri's Disco yet . . . Need to check that one off. You know, where it's safe to do such.

after totaling 2 Yes 2 MB SL550 in one year I have slowed dow . That, along with turning double 30 hasn't helped. I'll take the 27 mpg and get to work a couple of minutes late. But this this pulss great even on nasty slippery ramps.

I dont remember either and can't find out for a week. However if you use the plug I would expect the other trailer specific features will come o . Anti sway, trailer turn indicator on dash, etc. But I will be able to test it sunday if the weather cooperates.

It will probably be some time before I tow again. I keep the trailer in storage and my boat stays on a rack in a marina. Sorry.
