Default 2017 Discovery Audio Issues-Help

Hi all,

This is my 1st post here and I’m pretty new to Land Rover (formerly a BMW owner for the past 20 years, if it matters).

I have a 2017 Discovery HSE, which I think is the V (??).

I’m hoping someone here can help me. About 2 mths ago I started having an audio issue where as soon as I opened the door and the electronics powered on I heard static out of the speaker in my rear passenger door (right side). The static was persistent no matter what else was going on (Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, phone calls, navigation, or no audio).

I took it in to get assessed and the first verdict was that the issue was the speaker in that door however, it was replaced with a new speaker and I’m still having the same issue.

The dealer sent me to a specialty audio/electronics shop. The technician there decided that the issue was the amplifier. After several weeks of waiting for the new part to arrive, today I got the call that the new amplifier did not resolve the problem.

Very soon I’ll have been without my vehicle for a month. I do have a loaner but I’m sure you can imagine that I want my car back. Once upon a time I hopped on a Forum and the community there helped me with a different car.

Here’s the recent work that’s been done on the car:

-Replaced rear door speaker.

-Replaced radio head unit (upgraded to vs with Apple CarPlay-this was not in an attempt to resolve the static)

-Replaced amplifier

So, here I am. Has anyone had this or a similar issue with this year/model? Can anyone offer any advice?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

hey there!

yes, I’m happy to say that my issue is resolved. The issue was the amplifier. Below I mentioned that when they initially replaced the Amp it did not fix my audio issue. They replaced it with a bad Amp so a second amp had to be shipped in. After Amp #2 and a software update my audio issue is resolved.

Awesome! Thanks so much for getting back to me… do you mind me asking how much that cost you? 😑 I’m going to call and make an appointment. Thanks again!

I have a warranty so it didn’t cost me anything. I think I remember the tech saying it would have ordinarily been a $1700 job. Don’t quote me on that because it’s been a while now. Definitely shop around with some reputable audio shops if you don’t have a warranty.
