2017 discovery hse lux td6 usa fuel filter change
New water sensor fitted after snapping the plastic on the old one and everything put back in place on the filter. Truck drives like a dream and so far no diesel fume smell inside the cabin. My car did have some rough idle initially when first started and put in R, but that went away. Thanks for the help!

Pull it, use a small steamer, and clean it off.

Just don't want to break/damage anything there.
I recommend having a spare clamp. Just in case.
Take your time.
Here's my process for changing the fuel filter:
Record hose connection positions with a photo.
1-release and slide the filter/bracket up, off its mount.
2-disconnect the top hose connections and push out of the way (minor spills). The hoses are released with either double or single push in tabs. One has a yellow guard which must be slid out to reveal the tabs.
3-remove its Torx fastener and slide the mounting bracket over the top of the filter.
4-prep for fuel spill !
5-unscrew the old filter from the bottom hose/connector assembly.
6-screw the new filter into the bottom hose/connector assembly.
7-slide the mounting bracket over the new filter and secure with Torx fastener - watch orientation.
8-fit the filter/bracket back on the mounting bracket.
9-Reconnect the hoses, they should click in place. Push the yellow guard back.

1.REMOVE DRAIN TUBE (READ NOTE ON DRAIN TUBE)((DO NOT RE-ATTACH DRAIN TUBE!!!))
2.PLACE A HAND FULL OF SHOP TOWELS UNDER FILTER FOR SPILLAGE.
3.PRESS TO RELEASE TAB, TO FREE UP FILTER CRADLE.
4.GENTLE PULL ASSEMBLE UP, TO GAIN BETTER ACCESS TO CONNECTIONS.
5.THE CONNECTORS ARE SQUEEZE TO RELEASE TYPE. (NONE ARE UNDER PRESSURE WHEN ENGINE IS OFF)
6.THE SAFETY YELLOW CLIP NEEDS TO SLIDE OVER, TO ACCESS THE SQUEEZE BUTTONS.
7.NOW CAREFULLY PULL UP ASSEMBLE ENOUGH TO UNCLIP ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR.
8.ON YOUR BENCH, US 20MM TORX TO REMOVE PLASTIC CRADLE, RE-INSTALL USING LINE UP MARK ON NEW FILTER.
9.UNCLIP THE BLACK PLASTIC FUEL CATCH/DRAIN FROM THE BOTTOM.
10.IF YOURS HAS THE SENSOR, THEN UNSCREW THE WHITE WATER DRAIN, THEN SCREW IN YOUR SENSOR. USE THE NEW WASHER SUPPLIED ON THE WHITE WATER DRAIN CAP.
11.NOW JUST REVERSE FOR INSTALL.
12.TO PRIME NEW FILTER. PRESS START BUTTON, NO FOOT ON BRAKE. WAIT 30 SECONDS, IT WILL SELF PRIME.( i DID IT TWICE)
13. START UP, AND CHECK FOR LEAKS.
NOTE ON DRAIN TUBE:
IF TUBE IS ATTACHED, AND FUEL ENTERS THE TUBE, IT DUMPS INTO THE INNER FENDER WELL, AND WILL MIGRATE INTO THE CABIN! YOU'LL NEVER GET THE SMELL OUT!!
