If you're in the US I would take the truck straight to the dealer. There's an 8 year 80,000 mile warranty on emissions related parts. Fuel pump is one of the items that looks to be covered. Sorry for not mentioning that at the start.

 

This was good news. Thank you, I had no idea. Just had a tow truck take it to the dealership... that was a fun event in and of itself. The cable that connects to the lever that puts the transmission into neutral was broken so it was fun getting it on the flatbed.

it's at the dealership now it was diagnosed as the high-pressure fuel pump. The part will be in tomorrow and it was covered by the federal warranty about $2600..
