Default To flush or not to flush… This is the dilemma

99k miles 3.0 scv6, I have had since 25k( 5yrs ago).
like for so many in this forum, insanity has replaced wisdom, in the pursuit of absolute top maintenance…. Mine is the quietest scv6 in the land. I mean it’s like a sewing machine…
at 93k I had Land Rover to the 4x4 service($700), both diff plus transfer case, and of course they did not recommend transmission … I asked today for a quote….. $2600…. Yikes! 6 hours of labor? I mean robbery anyone?
at any rate just for info, I asked Christian Brothers, which is well rated here, and they quoted $800 for a flush, $1500 for a flilush plus filter (pan removal).
I’m tempted just to do a flush, they warranty their work 1 years.
Let’s hear it…

Welcome aboard.
I plan to service my 8HP70 at 50K miles. Bought the following kit for $216 during a sale.
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-24118612901kt
FCP has fairly detailed video DIY procedure; and it appears pretty straight forward.

@gmfain also posted instructions on how to service the transmission. Easy to search on this forum.

As for paying a shop, my trusted indy quoted $345 for labor (I'd just have to provide the FCP kit)

All the best and keep us posted.

If you decide to service the diffs again, here are the parts needed.
drain & fill is fairly easy, with plenty of guides available on the forum & youtube.

I don't recommend a flush. Just change fluid filter/pan . its not a bad job. take your time, be patient.

+1 for only changing the fluid and pan. Flushing the transmission could do more harm than good. I would only stick with the OEM ZF Lifeguard 8 transmission fluid. JLR claims the transmission is filled for life, but ZF recommends to change the fluid every 50k-75k miles.
